Illustrative Archive of Medical History - Eoin O’Brien

During research for the historical books I wrote on the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and its teaching hospitals, the Charitable Infirmary at Jervis Street and the Richmond, Whitworth and Hardwick Hospitals, known collectively as the House of Industry Hospitals, I gathered a large collection of photographs. Likewise my interest in blood pressure measurement led me to research and collect photographs and illustrations relative to this subject. Some, but by no means all of this illustrative material, has been published in books and articles on these topics. The purpose of this archive is to make these collections available for future scholarship. However, the process of scanning and preparing the collection for presentation on this website is necessarily a protracted one and the archive will develop gradually over time.
